What it does

Fuel math, handled.

Far Enough is a boat fuel calculator and trip planner — from the dock to the horizon, it keeps your tank, your route, and your reserve in one clear picture.

Go, or no-go

Plan the run and get one verdict — comfortable, tight, or not enough fuel — computed off the cautious end of the estimate, reserve held back.

Range rings

Two rings on the chart: how far the fuel aboard takes you, and the tighter ring you can reach with your reserve untouched.

Chop costs fuel

Headwind and sea state raise your burn. Live wind and swell prefill the conditions; the estimate adjusts to the water you'll actually run.

Learns your boat

Log a fill-up and Far Enough calibrates to your boat's measured burn — spec-sheet guesses fade out, your real numbers take over.

Live boat dataOptional

Got NMEA 2000 or SignalK aboard? Connect over Wi-Fi and read fuel flow, tank level and speed live. Read-only — and everything here works without it.

Works offline

No bars past the breakwater? Everything keeps working — your boat, your trips, and the math come with you.

Float plan sharing

Send route, ETA and fuel margin to someone ashore — a float-plan PDF or a quick text — so they know when you're due back.

A real ship's log

Start leg at castoff, End leg at the dock — times, positions, engine hours and fuel stamped for you. The whole log exports to a spreadsheet.

No account, no cloud

Your boat and your whole logbook live on your phone. Nothing to sign up for, no server copy, nothing to cancel.

Range, at a glance

Watch your fuel cover the chart.

The green ring shows how far you can go on the fuel aboard. The dashed ring shows how far you can go and still keep your reserve untouched. If your destination's inside both, you've got margin. It's all drawn on U.S. NOAA-sourced nautical charts — global coverage is coming soon.

Now live · boat data

Plug into your boat's fuel-flow data.

Connect over Wi-Fi to your NMEA 2000 network or SignalK server and Far Enough reads your fuel flow, tank level, RPM, engine hours, speed and position live — so your range reflects the burn your boat is reporting right now. It even learns your burn between fill-ups in the background.

Read-only — Far Enough never writes to your bus
Conservative by design: a noisy, idle, or dropped-out sensor is treated cautiously, so live data won't inflate your range
Works with NMEA 2000, SignalK & YDWG-style Wi-Fi gateways
Completely optional — every feature works with manual entry, no gateway needed
Three steps

Cast off in under a minute.

1

Set up your boat

Tank size, engines, burn rate, and cruise speed. Once. We remember it.

2

Plan the trip

Pick your route and sea state. See fuel, cost, time, and range instantly.

3

Cast off, confident

Share a float plan and head out with a clear, conservative fuel margin.

Top off and hope is no way to leave the dock. Far Enough is built so you head out with a clear, conservative estimate of how much you'll burn and how much you'll have left — instead of topping off and hoping.

Good to know

Common questions.

Is there a subscription?

No. Far Enough is one price, paid once — $24.99 — with no account and no subscription. Every feature and every trip is yours for good.

Is Far Enough a boat fuel calculator?

At its core, yes — a conservative one. It runs the classic fuel math — burn rate, trip fuel, cost, and range — for your specific boat, then goes beyond a static calculator: it applies the day's wind and sea state, holds a reserve back, and calibrates to the burn you actually measure.

Does it work offline?

The fuel math, your boat, and your trip log all work with no signal past the breakwater. Charts need a connection to load; downloadable offline charts are on the roadmap.

Is Far Enough a navigation or charting system?

No. It plans fuel, cost, and range — it is not a chartplotter, and not a substitute for official charts, working fuel gauges, or prudent seamanship.

How does it know my boat's fuel burn?

Set your tank, burn rate, and cruise speed once, then log a fill-up and it calibrates to your boat's measured burn. Connect over NMEA 2000 or SignalK to read live fuel flow.

Which boat-network gateways are supported?

NMEA 2000 networks, SignalK servers, and YDWG-style Wi-Fi gateways, read over Wi-Fi. It is read-only and never writes to your bus.

Where is my data stored?

On your device. There is no account to create, and your boats and trips stay with you.

Do I need NMEA 2000 or special hardware?

No. The boat-network connection is completely optional — every feature works with manual entry. Set your tank, burn rate, and cruise speed by hand and the fuel math, float plans, and trip log all work the same, no gateway needed.

When is the Android version coming?

iOS ships first; Android follows after launch. No date to promise yet — when it's ready, the Google Play badge on this page goes live.

What if it doesn't work out for my boat?

Purchases run through the App Store and Google Play, so refunds follow the store's standard process. Email support first — most setup questions turn out to be quick fixes.
